The route

The walk begins at RebildPorten and takes you past several interesting places in the area. Along the way, you will pass Cimbrerstenen, Klodholmpladsen and several burial mounds.

At the car park by Grøndalen, you will find an old well as well as picnic tables and a barbecue area – a good place for a short break.

From here, the route continues along a good forest road until you reach the northern side of Store Økssø. Follow the lake to the left until you reach the bathing jetty. From here, you can turn left and walk under the railway to MosskovPavillonen.

After visiting MosskovPavillonen, continue around the lake from the bathing jetty. When you reach the raised bog, go through the gate and follow the small path across the bog. Please note that this area can be wet, although boardwalks have been laid out along the route.

The trail then continues along a forest road past author Helge Qvistorff’s spruce tree and Urskoven Campsite. When you reach Troldeskoven, turn onto the forest road between the twisted and branched beech trees before the route leads you on to Rold StorKro.

After visiting Rold StorKro, follow the paved sunken road for a short distance. Just before Kovadsbæk, turn right and follow the forest road along the stream.

The final part of the route takes you up through Rebild Bakker and past the flagpoles at the festival site, where the Rebild Festival is celebrated every year on 4 July. From here, continue back to the car park by RebildPorten.
