Gastronomic Quality Trail in Rebild

The Gastronomic Quality Trail is a certified hiking route starting from the car park at RebildPorten. On this route, good food experiences are combined with beautiful nature experiences. The trail passes three of the area’s restaurants, where you can enjoy, for example, lunch or afternoon coffee.

The route

The route is 14 km long and is not waymarked.

Along the route, you will pass Cimbrerstenen, Klodholmpladsen and several burial mounds, as well as an old well by the car park at Grøndalen. Here, you will also find picnic tables and a barbecue area.

After walking along a good forest road, you reach the northern side of Store Økssø. Follow the lake to the left until you reach the bathing jetty. From here, you can turn left and pass under the railway to Mosskovpavillonen.

After your visit to Mosskovpavillonen, continue around the lake from the bathing jetty. When you reach the raised bog, go through the gate and follow the small path across the bog. Please note that it may be wet here, although boardwalks have been laid out.

The route then continues along a forest road past the writer Helge Qvistorff’s spruce tree and the campsite in the old forest. When you reach Troldeskoven, turn onto the forest road between the branched and twisted beech trees, before arriving at Rold StorKro.

After your visit to Rold StorKro, follow the paved sunken road for a short distance. Just before Kovadsbæk, turn right and follow the forest road along the stream. The route then takes you up through Rebild Bakker, passing the flagpoles at the festival site. This is where the Rebild Festival is celebrated on 4 July. Finally, you return to the car park at RebildPorten.
