Perhaps Denmark’s best MTB marathon

On 30 May 2026, Rold Forest MTB Marathon takes place for the 4th time – and you can look forward to a route with plenty of flow, variety and quality trails in the heart of one of Denmark’s strongest MTB areas.

You can choose between three distances: approx. 28 km, 45 km or 90 km, with the long route ridden as two laps. Whether you are an ambitious recreational rider or an experienced cyclist, there is a distance that suits you.

The route takes you through some of Rold Forest’s most iconic areas – with flowing singletracks, technical sections and outstanding nature experiences. Along the way, you will pass Rebild Bakker, Store Økssø and a number of the best trails in the area.

Start and finish are at Skørping Idrætscenter, where you will also find a feed zone, refreshments and facilities after the race. In 2026, e-bikes are welcome on the two longest distances.

Choose your challenge

28 km: Approx. 350 metres of climbing – perfect if you want to take on an MTB marathon.
45 km: Approx. 600 metres of climbing – a strong and varied challenge with plenty of flow.
90 km: Approx. 1,200 metres of climbing – for the tough riders who want to complete two laps and test their endurance.
Minimal tarmac: A focus on trails, flow and nature experiences all the way.
Start groups: From elite riders to “the rest of us” – so you can ride at a pace that matches your level.

Experience Denmark’s best MTB riders in Rold Forest

On 3 May, Shimano Ligaen visits Rold Forest with the 2nd round of the race series. Here, you can get up close to some of Denmark’s best mountain bike riders as they take on the hilly and demanding terrain.

The riders have already registered, so the focus is on you if you want to experience the atmosphere, speed and intensity from the sidelines. The elite women and elite men will naturally be among the day’s biggest highlights, and of course we hope to see many of the strongest Danish riders at the start.

But feel free to stay for the final start of the day too, when the U15 and U17 boys head out onto the trail. It is usually pure mayhem – high speed, plenty of determination and action that is fantastic to experience as a spectator.

Good to know as a spectator

Highlights of the day: Elite women start at 12:00, elite men at 13:45.
Extra action: The final start of the day with the U15/U17 boys is also an ideal time to experience speed and drama up close.
Food and drinks: The food stall is open approx. 10:00–16:30, serving items such as pasta salad, sausages, sandwiches, cake, coffee, water and soft drinks at reasonable prices.
Access: Via Stendalsvej or Rebild Skovhusevej, with signs to the parking area.
Parking: The final location has not yet been confirmed, but parking will be signposted on the day.

6 hours of speed, community and true MTB atmosphere

On 9 May 2026 at 10:00, 6 Hours in Rold once again takes place – one of the most traditional and welcoming mountain bike races in Rold Forest. Here, it is not only about speed and endurance, but also about community, team spirit and the special atmosphere that arises when riders and spectators gather for six intense hours on the trail.

You can enter solo or as part of a duo or trio team and compete to complete as many laps as possible within the six hours. The start and finish area is located in front of Skørping Hallen, and on the grass area in front of Bagtanker, participants can set up their own small camp. This is where teams gather, cheer each other on and create the atmosphere the race is known for.

This year’s route will be approximately 7.5 km long with around 160 metres of climbing per lap and offers plenty of flow, singletracks, gravel roads, tough climbs and fun descents. The route is made up of sections from both the 24-hour trail and the Blue Route.

In 2026, eMTB classes will also be introduced in solo, duo and trio formats, allowing even more riders to be part of a great day on the trails.
