The Rebild National Park treasure hunt continues its success

After more than 4,000 participants over the past two years, RebildPorten’s popular treasure hunt returns for the 2026 autumn holiday with a new, free adventure route through the Troll Forest.

The treasure hunt in Rebild Hills has become a holiday favourite for families with children, and this year the popular activity returns with a new route full of nature, adventure and troll magic. Following strong interest in both 2024 and 2025, RebildPorten once again expects to welcome many children and adults during the autumn holiday.

What began as a small initiative is now becoming a new autumn tradition for families with children, with nature at the heart of the experience.

Over the past two years, more than 4,000 children and adults have taken part in the treasure hunt in Rebild Hills. This strong support has, in just a few years, made the treasure hunt a popular autumn activity for families and a returning part of the autumn holiday in Rebild Hills.

Simple, accessible and for the whole family

The treasure hunt combines several of the things that make it easy for families with children to head out on an excursion: it is free, flexible and easy to take part in, while the walk through nature becomes a shared experience.

“Many parents would like to give their children more nature experiences, but it often requires both time and planning. Here, we have made it easy: you simply show up, take a treasure map in hand and let the adventure guide the way. And this simple concept has proven incredibly popular,” says destination developer Pernille Mulvad Møller.

In 2026, RebildPorten builds on what has worked well in previous years, while this year’s treasure hunt introduces a new story. The aim remains to encourage more children and adults to get out into nature and inspire them to return to Rebild National Park and explore the area again.

A new route filled with magical experiences

This year’s treasure hunt centres around the Troll Forest and promises a true adventure. Along the route, clues emerge among the trees, leading participants deeper into the story of the troll’s missing treasure chest. The treasure hunt is created to awaken curiosity and encourage children and adults to explore nature together. During the autumn holiday, when many families enjoy extra time with children and grandchildren, Rebild’s autumn landscape provides the perfect setting for the adventure to begin.

RebildPorten is once again looking forward to welcoming families to the treasure hunt and offering an experience that brings together play, storytelling and the unique landscape of Rebild.
