The Max Henius Hut

The Max Henius Hut is sheltered by the hills of Rebild Bakker in Rebild National Park – close to the large car park and easy to find as you walk down the steps towards the hills. The hut was built in 2018 and is owned by Rebild Municipality. It was created as a gathering place in nature for everyone visiting Rebild Bakker.

The octagonal campfire hut is shaped like a tipi and rises 8.5 metres above the ground. Inside, there is plenty of space for breaks, packed lunches and cosy moments around the fire. The hut has 6 tables and 12 benches with room for around 48 people, as well as two grills that are free to use. Firewood is available by the campfire site.

Outside, you will find another 5 picnic table sets where you can sit and enjoy the view of the surrounding nature. Everyone is welcome to use the campfire hut – whether for lighting a fire, taking a rest or enjoying food brought from home. The hut cannot be reserved.

The campfire hut is named after Max Henius, a central figure in the history of Rebild Bakker. As a young man, he emigrated to Chicago, built a career in the brewing industry and later founded the Rebild Society. At the first Rebild Festival in 1912, he presented the deed to Rebild National Park to King Christian X.

Please remember to take your waste with you and leave the hut as you would like to find it.
