Exploring Rebild Bakker and Rold Forest

In Rebild Bakker, the northern loop of the Rebild Bakker Route awaits. This route is about one third of the full route, yet it still gives you a taste of everything that makes Rebild Bakker truly special. Along the way, you will experience beautiful views, forest atmosphere, natural springs and local stories.

Taste nature at Ravnkilde

At Ravnkilde, clear spring water flows all year round. The water is so clean that you can drink it straight from the spring – a small, refreshing nature experience along the route.

Visit the old poacher

At the foot of the hills lies Lars Kjær’s House, a small place with an interesting story. Lars Kjær lived here many years ago and was known as a poacher, sneaking out at night to catch animals in the forest. His wife, Marie, was a fortune teller and is said to have been able to see into the future.

Step into the deep forest

The route takes you beneath the giant trees of Troldeskoven. Here, the sky almost disappears above you, and you can hear and feel the leaves singing in the wind.

Find your way

To follow this route, follow the white arrows of the Rebild Bakker Route across Sønderkol. When you have enjoyed the view from the highest point in Rebild Bakker and come back down the stairs, turn right at Hedevejen instead of following the white arrows.

When you cross Hulvejen, you will rejoin the Rebild Bakker Route on a gravel path. From here, continue following the white arrows past Lars Kjær’s House and Ravnkilde, before heading back through Troldeskoven.
