BOGBY9520 – books, community and cultural life in Skørping
In the railway town of Skørping, you will find BOGBY9520 – Denmark’s largest and most welcoming book town. Around 150,000 books are spread across three shops in Skørping and the surrounding area, with the main shops centrally located near the town square.
BOGBY9520 is a local association project that creates activity, a sense of community and cultural experiences through the diverse world of literature. The books are donated to the association and sold at attractive book town prices. All proceeds are used to run the shops, organise cultural events and support initiatives that promote books, literature and the Danish language.
The book town is run by volunteers, who sort, price and sell the books. Visitors are welcome to find a chair, settle down with a good book and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. There are books for all ages, and children have their own dedicated section.
BOGBY9520 also hosts a wide range of events and is an active part of Skørping’s cultural life – a place where people meet through books, experiences and a shared sense of community.
The shops are open throughout the year, including during the summer, when many visitors find their way to the town’s book haven.
