Nysumbanen has been used for TV programmes such as Zulu Djævleræs and 5. Gear. Today, the track is home to several types of motorsport, including go-karting, rally and Black Track RC.
Motorsport for beginners and experienced drivers
At Motorsport Nordjylland on Nysumbanen, you can experience motorsport at different levels. There are activities for beginners, experienced drivers and motorsport enthusiasts who would like to get closer to the sport.
The track and club bring people together around speed, technique, community and the joy of motorsport.
Go-karting on Nysumbanen
For many people, go-karting is their first encounter with motorsport – and it is the discipline where many of the world’s greatest racing drivers began their careers. The sport offers speed, technique and competition, but also a strong sense of community and good experiences for the whole family.
In Denmark, races are held in several different go-kart classes, and the sport is open to children, young people and adults.
To drive go-karts on Nysumbanen, you must be a member of Motorsport Nordjylland or another motorsport club. As a member, you can apply for a basic licence through DASU, the Danish Automobile Sports Union. The basic licence also functions as insurance.
Once you have membership and a basic licence, you must pay a training fee to use Nysumbanen. This can be paid either for a full season or per training session.
Rally on Nysumbanen
Club rally is the beginner discipline within rally sport. It is typically driven on industrial areas and car parks, where cones are used as obstacles. Equipment requirements are limited, making club rally a good way to get started in rally sport.
The next step is mini rally, where faster speed tests are driven as preparation for full rally. This still mainly takes place on industrial areas, car parks and selected roads – but with fewer cones.
DASU and Dansk Metal have jointly created a club rally tournament. The aim is both to discover new talent and to promote road safety.
The next level is rally, which is mainly driven on closed public roads and similar areas. Rally is divided into several disciplines, including rally and Danish Championship rally. Here, the requirements for both licences and vehicle safety equipment are significantly higher than in club rally.
Rally sprint events are also held. This is a show-like rally discipline driven on circuit-style courses.
To take part in motorsport events, you need a licence. To obtain a licence, you must be a member of a motorsport club. The licence includes, among other things, collective accident insurance and recourse insurance.

Black Track RC
Black Track RC is motorsport with remote-controlled cars in 1:10 scale. The cars run on a carpet track with built-in jumps, where they can fly several metres through the air, as well as challenging dead-walls, where the cars are driven up and down ramps built into the slopes of the facility.
It is a fast-paced and technical motorsport with excitement, precision and good companionship. 1:10 off-road is a motorsport for all ages and does not place special demands on your physical fitness.
Black Track RC has a curved driver’s stand, allowing drivers to see the whole track, regardless of how many people are standing there. The facility is also accessible, with step-free access to both the clubhouse and driver’s stand, as well as accessible toilet facilities.
