Fossil hunt – search for treasures from the past

At Skillingbro Limestone Quarry, you can try your luck as a fossil hunter.

You may find fossils by simply digging or scraping a little on the exposed quarry face or in the large pile of limestone in front of the slope. We will explore hidden treasures from the past, hammer, tap, clean and study our finds — and perhaps we may even find something from a shark.

Bring your favourite grown-ups along and join us in the search for fossils from long before your grandfather was born — in fact, from the time when the limestone was formed in the sea.

Time and place: Sunday 11 October, 10.00 am–11.30 am
Meeting point: The large car park by Rold Storkro, Vælderskoven 13, 9520 Skørping

Please note: Wear practical clothing and footwear, as the limestone can be a little slippery. You may also want to bring a change of clothes for the car ride home, as well as a packed lunch and something to drink.

Feel free to bring equipment such as: Hammer, chisel/large nail, safety glasses and a bucket or bag for your finds.
