In the footsteps of the robbers of Rold

In the footsteps of the Robbers of Rold
The stories of the Robbers of Rold go back to the early 1800s, when Himmerland was a far more difficult place to travel through. At that time, the area was home to a large network of robbers, known for their ruthlessness and willingness to use violence to get what they wanted.
One of the most infamous gangs was the Robbers of Rold, who attacked travellers passing through the forest as well as people living in the area. Many fascinating stories still exist about the robbers’ lives — and especially their crimes.
On a beautiful walk through Rebild Bakker and Rold Forest, we will hear stories about the robbers’ misdeeds and the court case that finally put an end to their reign of terror in the area. Hopefully, we will also get a little closer to understanding who they were as people — and perhaps discover why Johannes Jensen became the most famous robber of them all: Bettefanden.
