Fishing in Rebild Municipality
Rebild Municipality offers good opportunities for angling in lakes, streams and put & take lakes. In some places, you can fish freely if you have the national fishing licence, while other fishing waters require a local fishing permit in addition to the national licence.
If you are between 18 and 65 years old, you generally need the mandatory national fishing licence when fishing in publicly accessible lakes and streams. People under 18 and over 65 are exempt from the national fishing licence.
Please remember that, as an angler, you are responsible for checking current rules, fishing restrictions, conservation regulations and any local requirements before you fish.

Fishing places where you need a local fishing permit
At several streams and watercourses, the fishing rights are private or managed by local angling associations. Here, you will usually need both a national fishing licence and a local fishing permit for the specific fishing water.
Lindenborg Å
Lindenborg Å is known for good sea trout fishing. Almost every year, fish weighing more than 10 kg are caught, and fishing for the large upstream-migrating fish typically starts in early June. Night fishing or fishing at dusk is often the preferred choice.
The stream also offers good fishing for small sea trout. The fishing stretch extends for approx. 7 km from Rold StorKro to Støvring.
Fishing permits for Lindenborg Å can be purchased via danskfiskekort.dk or through Støvring Angling Association.
On a smaller stretch of Lindenborg Å, marked in yellow on the map, fishing is now allowed without a local fishing permit. However, you still need a national fishing licence if you are between 18 and 65 years old.
Season: 16 January – 15 November
Simested Å
Simested Å is one of Denmark’s best streams for sea trout fishing. The stream is especially known for its population of large, self-reproducing sea trout.
The stream is 3–8 metres wide with a moderate to good current. It runs through meadows and uncultivated areas and has many bends and deep holes.
A local fishing permit is required in addition to the national fishing licence.
Lerkenfeld Å
Lerkenfeld Å rises near Mejlby south of Rold Skov and runs for just over 30 km before flowing into Louns Bredning in the Limfjord.
The stream runs through a beautiful Himmerland landscape with hills and a relatively narrow stream valley along most of its course. It is well suited as a spawning and nursery habitat for trout.
On the day-ticket stretch, the stream is 6–10 metres wide with a moderate to steady current. Here, you can fish for sea trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and eel. In early spring and late autumn, you may also encounter fine Limfjord steelheads in Lerkenfeld Å.
A local fishing permit is required in addition to the national fishing licence.
Put & Take fishing
If you are looking for an easy and family-friendly fishing trip, put & take lakes are a good choice. Here, you usually pay directly at the fishing park, and rules may vary from place to place.
Volstrup Fiskepark
Volstrup Fiskepark is located in scenic surroundings west of Volstrup, overlooking Simested Ådal. The fishing park was established in 1993 in a former meadow area with natural springs that now supply the lake with fresh water.
Rainbow trout from 350 grams up to 10 kg are released daily. Other types of trout and eel can also be caught.
The fishing park is suitable for families, experienced anglers and anyone who simply wants to enjoy a day of fresh air and nature.
Open: All year
In winter, the lake can be kept ice-free with a propeller, even in severe frost. Fishing competitions and similar activities are also held regularly.
Buderupholm Fiskesøer
Buderupholm Fiskesøer is a put & take lake that opened on 1 July 2017.
Open: 24 hours a day, every day, all year round.
Remember your fishing licence and fishing permit
Although it may be tempting to simply stand by a lake or stream and start fishing, you should always check the rules first.
As a general rule:
If you are between 18 and 65 years old, you need a national fishing licence. It can be purchased online at fisketegn.dk.
At many lakes and streams, you must also buy a local fishing permit, as fishing rights are often private or managed by a local angling association.
You can typically buy day permits, weekend permits, weekly permits or annual permits through local angling associations or online fishing permit platforms.
You are responsible for checking:
- where you are allowed to fish
- whether a local fishing permit is required
- closed seasons
- minimum sizes
- special local rules
- access conditions and private land
