Cimbrerstenen
The Cimbrian Stone in Rebild Bakker is a historic monument commemorating the Cimbri, who, according to tradition, set out from this area around 120 BC.

In the heart of Rebild Bakker, the Cimbrian Stone stands as a memorial to the Cimbri, who, according to tradition, set out from this area around 120 BC.
The monument was created by sculptor Anders Bundgaard and is especially known for the distinctive Cimbrian Bull that decorates the stone.
The inscription on the stone reads:
“The Cimbri set out from this area in the year 120 BC.”
The Cimbrian Stone was given by Søren J. Heiberg from Chicago to Dr. Max Henius, who later transferred it to the Rebild National Park Society. Today, it is a small but meaningful stop for visitors who want to experience both the nature and history of Rebild Bakker.
Pass by the stone as you explore the hills, and let it be a natural pause on your way through one of North Jutland’s most distinctive landscapes.
